Common questions
What does "taxpayer of record" mean?
We register with tax authorities under Hospitable's name and taxpayer ID. When we file returns and remit taxes, it's aggregated across all hosts, you're not individually listed. The obligation is satisfied and you're not required to file separately for covered taxes.
Do I need to register for lodging taxes in covered states?
No. If we're remitting in your jurisdiction, we're already registered and you don't need to register separately for those specific taxes
What if my property is in a state you don't cover yet?
You remain responsible for calculating, collecting, and remitting taxes yourself. We provide the gross booking amounts and you'll need to work with your accountant or tax advisor.
How do I know which jurisdictions you cover?
Check your tax settings in Hospitable or contact support. We update coverage monthly and notify hosts when we add their area.
Can I get historical remittance records?
Yes. Contact support for remittance statements for any period where we've collected and remitted taxes on your behalf.
