Within the 2024 winter release, Airbnb has officially launched its Co-Host Network to make it easier for hosts to find experienced local co-hosts to help them manage their Airbnb properties. Let's find out how Airbnb Co-Host Network works and how you can join it.

Airbnb Co-Host Network Explained

Airbnb is constantly experimenting with new features to enhance the user experience on its platform for both hosts and guests. Within the 2024 winter release, Airbnb has officially launched its Co-Host Network to make it easier for hosts to find experienced local co-hosts to help them manage their Airbnb properties.

Let's find out how the Airbnb Co-Host Network works and how you can join it to earn more money or use it to find a local host to help you take care of your home and guests.

Airbnb Co-Host Network: What Is It and How Does It Work?

The Airbnb Co-Host Network connects property owners who list their homes on Airbnb with experienced local hosts who can manage their listings. Currently, the network is available in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Spain, the UK, and the US.

The Co-Host Network includes more than 10,000 co-hosts with an exceptional track record of hosting on the platform. They have an average Airbnb rating of 4.86. According to Airbnb, 73% of co-hosts are Superhosts, and 84% help manage Guest Favorites, which are among the most-loved homes on Airbnb.

Hosting on Airbnb can be a great way to earn extra money, but it requires dedication and hard work and can be rather time-consuming. So, if you need help, Airbnb co-hosts can provide personalized support based on your needs and reduce your workload. They can take care of your rental space or help with other important tasks, from setting up your Airbnb listing to taking care of your guests during their stay.

And if you automate your repetitive daily tasks, such as guest messaging, updating prices, and more, using short-term rental software like Hospitable, you can manage your rental hassle-free, even remotely, and stay in control of your listing.

Co-Host Network uses an algorithm that considers many factors influencing search results, including quality, engagement, and location, to help hosts find co-hosts who offer services most relevant to them. The algorithm also considers the host's history on the Airbnb platform, the types of listings they have, the locations of their listings, and the quality of their hosting, including reviews, ratings, and Superhost status.

When a host enters their address or location, the algorithm recommends co-hosts from the Airbnb Co-Host Network who are the best fit to manage their listing.

Finding a Local Co-Host on the Airbnb Co-Host Network

You can search the Co-Host Network to find someone local to your listing to help you host, check out their profile, and contact them to learn more about their services. Airbnb recommends reaching out to multiple hosts. You'll see all their replies in your Messages.

  • You need to go to the Where is Your Home page and enter your property's address to search the network for someone nearby. You'll see profiles of local co-hosts ranked by location, engagement, and quality.

  • Explore available co-hosts in your area and compare them based on the services they offer. Check out co-hosts' profiles to learn more about them—their experience, skills, past guest reviews, Airbnb listings they host, pricing, and other important details.

  • Message as many so-hosts as you like to get to know them better. Introduce yourself and explain what kind of help you need. Ask additional questions and discuss your hosting expectations.

  • After you decide who you would like as a new partner, you can invite the co-host to your listing and set up the permissions that work for you.

Co-hosts can take on many hosting responsibilities, so you can focus on growing your business, and Airbnb provides you with all the tools you need to collaborate with your co-hosts on the platform as seamlessly as possible. You can:

  • Message a co-host directly

  • Invite them to host your Airbnb listing

  • Set their permissions for managing your listing.

  • Share payouts on bookings with your co-host directly through Airbnb.

Co-hosts may also help you manage your listings across other OTA platforms and your direct booking website, making it easier for your whole team to work together on a single platform. If you opt for short-term rental software like Hospitable, you can assign each team member a role and give them access to the features and properties they need to do their job. This way, you can get help to reduce your workload, ensure smooth collaboration, and stay in full control of your business.

You can also use Hospitable’s Property Manager Marketplace to find and hire a local co-host or property manager who can help you achieve your rental goals. It’s important that every property manager in the Marketplace is an active Hospitable user evaluated on real performance data, including guest reviews and ratings, response times, channel coverage, and more.

If you need help managing your rentals, you can submit a request through Hospitable to get matched with property managers. Complete a short intake form to tell us about your goals, preferred level of involvement, budget, and any other specific preferences.

After 24 hours, you'll receive a curated list of top-performing property managers in your area who expressed interest in working with you. You’ll be able to review their profiles and choose who you’d like to connect with.

Joining the Airbnb Co-Host Network

If you're an experienced Airbnb host and want to grow your business on the platform, you can join the Airbnb Co-Host Network to offer personalized support to hosts with listings in your area and earn extra income. The network offers flexibility, letting you select which co-hosting services you want to provide, from complete property management to handling specific tasks such as

  • Listing setup

  • Setting prices and availability

  • Booking request management

  • Guest messaging

  • Onsite guest support

  • Cleaning and maintenance

  • Listing photography

  • Interior design and styling

  • Licensing and hosting permits

You can also offer additional unique services, depending on your skills and experience, such as business analysis, hospitality coaching, or landscaping. You can co-host on your terms and set your own rates for your services. You'll have access to specialized tools, resources, and insights from a dynamic community of Airbnb co-hosts.

But not just anyone can join the Co-Host Network; there are requirements you must meet to qualify.

  • You have an active Airbnb listing as a host or co-host with full access or calendar and messaging access.

  • You've hosted or co-hosted ten or more stays or three or more stays for at least 100 nights on Airbnb over the past 12 months.

  • You've maintained an average rating of 4.8 stars or more from guests over the past 12 months for all the listings you host or co-host with full access or calendar and messaging access.

  • Your cancellation rate is below 3%, with exceptions made for certain valid reasons beyond your control.

  • Your Airbnb account is in good standing. Your identity must be verified and meet the name and photo requirements to be displayed on the network.

You also need to know which local Airbnb regulations apply to you and to have all required licenses, permits, and registrations to provide services to hosts and ensure compliance.

If you are eligible, you can complete the information required to join, and after Airbnb confirms your eligibility, you'll get an email with a link to set up your Co-Host Network profile. Here, you need to share details about yourself and your hosting experience, the services you provide, and your pricing for prospective hosts.

Remember that your profile may take a few weeks to appear on the network. Airbnb will email you before your profile is active on the Co-Host Network and visible in search results.

Joining the Airbnb Co-Host Network is a great way to promote yourself and your services, connect with potential partners, and grow your co-hosting business. But it’s not the only option. Professional hosts and property managers on Mogul plan who use Hospitable to streamline day-to-day operations can also connect with property owners and hosts who need their services through the Property Management Marketplace.

When a property owner submits a request, Hospitable identifies qualified property managers in their area, allowing you to express interest in working with the property owner and grow your portfolio. If you’re matched, you’ll receive an email with an overview of the owner’s portfolio, including the number of properties, general location, goals, and any preferences they've shared. You’ll have enough information to evaluate an opportunity and quickly determine whether it’s a good fit for your business.

Common questions

What is the Airbnb Co-Host Network?

The Airbnb Co-Host Network is a marketplace that connects Airbnb hosts with experienced local co-hosts who can help manage listings and support guests. It was launched as part of Airbnb’s 2024 Winter Release and is currently available in selected countries. Hosts can use the network to find co-hosts based on location, experience, reviews, and the services they provide, while co-hosts can use it to grow their business and connect with property owners.

Who can join the Airbnb Co-Host Network?

To join the Airbnb Co-Host Network, you must have an active Airbnb listing as a host or co-host and meet Airbnb’s performance requirements. These include hosting experience, strong guest ratings, a low cancellation rate, and an account in good standing. Airbnb also requires co-hosts to comply with local regulations and maintain a consistent quality standard before being accepted into the network.

How do you find a local co-host?

You can find a local co-host through Airbnb’s Co-Host Network or through specialized marketplaces for short-term rental managers and operators. Hospitable offers a Property Manager Marketplace that helps owners connect with experienced local managers and co-hosts who already use Hospitable to manage operations across Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo, direct booking websites, and other connected channels. This makes it easier to find partners who can support a multi-platform short-term rental business, not just Airbnb listings.

How do you become a co-host?

To become a co-host, you need experience managing short-term rentals and delivering strong guest experiences. This often includes handling guest communication, pricing, calendars, cleaning coordination, and other day-to-day operational tasks. You can grow your co-hosting business by joining networks and marketplaces that connect managers with property owners. Airbnb offers its Co-Host Network for Airbnb-focused operations, while Hospitable’s Property Manager Marketplace helps co-hosts connect with owners managing listings across multiple booking channels.

What is an alternative to the Airbnb Co-Host Network?

An alternative to the Airbnb Co-Host Network is Hospitable’s Property Manager Marketplace, which connects property owners with experienced co-hosts and property managers already using Hospitable. Unlike Airbnb’s network, which is centered around Airbnb listings, Hospitable’s marketplace supports managers working across multiple booking channels, including Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com, Agoda, Google Vacation Rentals, and direct booking websites. This makes it a more flexible option for hosts running a multi-platform short-term rental business.
