Hospitable OTA Guest Terms

Hospitable Security Deposits

These Security Deposit Terms (the “Agreement”) govern the collection, authorization, use, and potential retention of security deposits in connection with reservations (“Reservations”) made by you (“Guest”) through third-party booking platforms (including but not limited to Airbnb, Vrbo, or Booking.com) for accommodations managed by hosts (“Hosts”) who utilize the services of Hospitable.com Inc. (“Hospitable”). In the event of any conflict between this Agreement and any applicable terms of the third-party booking platform, this Agreement shall govern solely with respect to Hospitable’s role in facilitating the security deposit on behalf of the Host.

1.1. Authorization and Agreement
By completing a booking through a Hospitable-connected property, you acknowledge and agree to the Security Deposit Terms and authorize Hospitable (or its payment processor) to place a hold or charge the security deposit amount on your payment method prior to check-in. The method used (hold or charge) is determined based on the payment method, length of stay, and other relevant factors.

1.2. Use of Security Deposits
Security deposits may be used by the host to cover: (i) accidental or intentional damage to the property. (ii) missing or stolen items, or (iii) excessive cleaning costs. Security deposits may not be used to recover costs related to: normal wear and tear, cosmetic imperfections, dissatisfaction with communication or the guest’s behavior, utility usage, or personal injury, accidents, or unrelated property loss.

1.3. Collection and Release
Deposits may be collected as either a pre-authorization hold or an upfront charge, depending on the booking details. For holds, funds are reserved but not charged unless a valid deduction is submitted. For charges, the full deposit amount is collected before check-in, and any unused portion is refunded after check-out. If no charge request is submitted within the designated window, the deposit will be released automatically. Hospitable cannot retroactively charge or collect funds once the hold has expired or funds have been refunded.

1.4. Host Control and Responsibilities
The host is solely responsible for determining whether to retain part or all of the deposit. Hospitable does not mediate, evaluate, or approve deposit charges, and acts solely as a facilitator of the payment transaction on the host’s behalf.

1.5. Charge Request
If a host submits a charge request, you authorize Hospitable to process the deduction from your security deposit. Any remaining balance will be refunded to your original payment method.

1.6. Disputes and Limitations of Liability
Hospitable is not responsible for resolving disputes related to security deposit deductions. All disputes must be addressed directly between you and the host. You waive the right to hold Hospitable liable for any financial loss, damage claims, or dissatisfaction related to deposit deductions.

1.7. Chargebacks and Fraud
By completing a booking, you agree not to initiate a chargeback for any security deposit deduction made in accordance with these terms, unless fraud or processing error has occurred. If you do file a chargeback, you may be required to submit supporting documentation. Hospitable reserves the right to suspend or restrict future bookings if a chargeback results in a reversed deposit deduction.
